OUR APPROACH
1
Healing the Earth
Healing the Earth begins with healing the community. WUASIKAMAS combines ecological restoration with cultural and spiritual renewal. Life is at the center of our projects. Every action should promote harmony, balance, and dignity. To achieve that, we implement the concept of biocultural peace.
2
Building Biocultural Peace
Peace means more than the absence of violence. It arises when people, communities, and nature live in mutual respect.
WUASIKAMAS combines reconciliation, environmental education, and cooperation across cultural and geographical boundaries, thereby laying the foundation for a shared future on a healthy planet.
3
Protecting indigenes Territories
The land is a habitat and an expression of cultural identity. WUASIKAMAS supports indigenous communities in securing their territories, respecting ecological boundaries, and regenerating destroyed landscapes. Protecting forests, water, and biodiversity also preserves culture and life.
4
Empowering indigenes Communities
Our work is based on the principles of knowledge exchange and self-help, as both worlds have their own wisdom to heal the planet. In Switzerland, we complement through science the ability of indigenous communities to shape their own paths and develop local solutions. This creates sustainable independence through education and collective action.
5
Bridging Knowledge Systems
WUASIKAMAS creates spaces where traditional indigenous knowledge and modern science meet and enrich each other.
Indigenous knowledge also includes a spiritual connection to nature. Before important decisions are made, dialogue with Mother Earth is sought. This combination of experience, spirituality, and research gives rise to new forms of education, knowledge, and sustainable solutions.
6
Creating Local Value
Sustainable change occurs where value creation remains within communities. With projects such as "WUASIKAMAS Coffee," we support local economies based on fairness, ecological responsibility, and community spirit. The funds generated are reinvested in education, health, infrastructure, and nature conservation.
KNOWLEDGE EXCHANGE
We support initiatives that connect the traditional knowledge of communities with other forms of knowledge, such as a series of lectures in Switzerland to share their perspectives and practices, or exchange programmes where people from Europe offer workshops and at the same time learn directly from the communities in their area.
