ËCONEÊRÃ – EDUCATION FOR A WORLD OF BIOCULTURAL PEACE
Ëconeêrã is an educational initiative founded by Wuasikama Colombia that is dedicated to protecting life in all its forms. It was initiated and shaped by Hernando Chindoy Chindoy, one of Colombia's most important indigenous voices and a guardian of biocultural peace. Building on the millennia-old knowledge of the Inga, Siona, and Cofán peoples, as well as modern scientific approaches, Ëconeêrã combines different knowledge systems into a new holistic form of learning – a pluriversity.
The pluriversity of Ëconeêrã understands education as a space for dialogue between nature, community, spirituality, and science. It strengthens understanding of ecological interrelationships, revitalizes traditional wisdom, promotes scientific research, and opens up ways for young people to protect their territories and cultures in a self-determined manner. At its core is the conviction that every life system—humans, water, forests, wildlife—has its own dignity and must exist in balance with one another.
Ëconeêrã is working with a long-term action plan from 2024 to 2049, which envisions the establishment of a globally recognized higher education institution. The goal is to support a shared vision of life in harmony with nature by 2050—based on ecological integrity, cultural diversity, and human dignity.
This vision is based on continuous dialogue and transformative processes: learning centers in the Andes and the Amazon, exchange programs with universities worldwide, research on biodiversity and traditional knowledge systems, as well as spaces for healing and collective learning.
Ëconeêrã is thus more than an educational project. It is an invitation to rediscover our own relationship with nature, to build a global network of guardians of the Earth, and to jointly develop ways in which we as humanity can live in harmony with our planet again.
More information about Ëconeêrã can be found on the Wuasikamas Colombia website.
